Supporting your wellbeing with a holistic counselling approach

Wanting to wholly support the health and wellbeing of her clients Angela embarked on a 3 year level 5 diploma in pluralistic psychotherapeutic counselling. As well as a qualified and practicing physiotherapist Angela is a qualified pluralistic counsellor and a registered member of the National Psychotherapy and Counselling Society (NPCS).

Pluralistic counselling is a talk therapy that encourages teamwork between therapist and client to find the best way to address the client’s concerns. Its collaborative and flexible approach is based on the idea that different people need different things at different times, and that there’s no one right way to do therapy. Pluralistic therapy is rooted in humanistic and person-centred values, meaning it believes that people are innately wired and motivated to achieve their own unique potential.

Angela’s role as the therapist is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel you can explore what is going on for you. You might have a build up of life experiences or something might have happened that has triggered a sudden change in you. Where ever you find yourself, she is here to help; you can talk to her about anything that is going on in your life. She will be with you through all your thoughts, feelings, habits and patterns; working together we can approach these things in the way that is right for you.

Along with her training in pluralistic therapy, which covers talk therapies such as person centred, CBT and psychodynamics. Angela’s passion and expertise in working with the body lead her to further training in somatic therapy. Somatic Therapy; a body-centred approach which looks at the interplay of body, mind and emotion using both psychotherapy and physical therapies for whole healing

Talk therapy V Somatic therapy

Talk therapy
Focuses on verbal communication and cognitive exploration to help people understand their emotions and behaviour. Talk therapy can help with identifying obstacles to mental health, overcoming fears, coping with stress & anxiety or learning to accommodate loss and bereavement.

Somatic therapy
Focuses on the body-mind connection, and aims to help people become aware of their bodily sensations and feel more at ease in their bodies. Somatic therapy can help with trauma resolution, releasing tension, improving body mechanics as well as mental and emotional health.
